Do you think certain books should be banned from schools?

This issue of whether we think books should be banned from schools has been discussed at our class recently. This is an important issuebecause it questions the basic human rights like free speech or the right to have your own opinion from many writers who spend years writing books with the illusion that this one day will be published.But although the arduous work that takes writing a book there is always some people that are for the banning of this books, because of several reasons for instance the inappropriate language or theappearance of sex and violence on the content. In the following I shall concentrate on explaining pro and contra arguments about this controversial issue which is important not only on an academicallylevel, but also as a cultural one. Apart from that I will also make clear what my point of view about this matter is and express my personal worries concerning the topic.

Some books are forbidden atschools because they deal with topics parents don’t agree with. There are many reasons why parents or school boards feel offended with the content of books and don’t want their children/students towork with it. Firstly books are often challenged for the language they contain, that is also called profanity. Such as Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck banned because of the use of the language.Secondly books have been also censored because of certain sexual passages that they consider inappropriate for young people, for example Judy Blume's Forever.
Another aspect is violence, parents/schoolsobject to books with a certain content of violence because it could promote young people to try this act and cause a national issue.
 In addition religions or racism grounds have been also consideredas reasons for censoring books, to illustrate my point I’d like to mind about Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which is one of the most banned books in the last century. It offends...
