Description of function for custom work pieces in the CncSimulator.
In the CncSimulator, you can do simulations on other than rectangular work pieces by using the function "Drawing" in the MillingOptions dialog.
To open the dialog click, Simulate - Detail Settings followed by clicking the button "Choose drawing". For this example, please select the file: custom_part.rit Also set the height(Z) of the work piece to 20. Please note that the file format for the drawing files is the format used by the CAD/CAM system CamModul from MicroTech. If you are not an owner of this system, there isalso a converter available (dxf2rit) to convert DXF files into the RIT format. Imagine that you are a workshop owner and you will be provided parts from your customer that are already prefabricated inthe form you see:
Your task is to mill two pockets on the prefabricated work piece. In this example this is already done for you. Now, load the example cnc file: custom_part.nc and simulate it.Please note that the example is made in millimeters and your tool number 9 in the tool register of the CncSimulator must be set to 5. This can be done by clicking Simulate - Edit Tools and manually enter5 as diameter at the position of tool number 9.
Now, please start the simulation and run through it.
How to draw the custom work piece.
In the CAD system, draw the work piece to be used inthe CncSimulator in the correct size and with the zero point corresponding to the zero point in the cnc program.
By drawing one ore more points in the drawing, you can specify where the part will befilled (white color) and where there will be no material (black color). In this sample, we draw only one point to tell the CncSimulator that there is material inside the contour but outside thecircle. Note that the point can be anywhere between the circle and the outer contour.
Save the drawing and if needed, convert it to a file of the format RIT by using the provided tool dxf2rit.exe.
