Canada Geografia En Ingles
Canada is a federation composed of ten provinces and three territories. The provinces are Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and the Prince Edward Island. The three territories of Nunavut, Yukon, and Northwest Territories account for over a third of Canada's area but have very few people, whichskew the national population density value. Ottawa is the capital of Canada, it’s ubicated in Ontario.
Canada is the world's second-largest country by total area, and its common border with the United States is the world's longest land border.
The population of Canada, some 33.5 million as of 2011, is concentrated in the south in proximity to its border with the contiguous U.S.; with apopulation density of 3.5 people per square kilometre (9.1/sq mi), it is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world.
Canadian Cordillera
The Canadian Cordillera, attached to the American cordillera, stretches from the Rocky Mountains in the east to the Pacific Ocean.
Canadian Arctic
The ground in the Arctic is mostly composed of permafrost, making construction difficult andoften hazardous, and agriculture virtually impossible.
Permafrost is soil at or below the freezing point of water 0 °C (32 °F) for two or more years.
Canadian Shield
The Shield mostly consists of eroded hilly terrain and contains many lakes and important rivers used for hydroelectric production, particularly in northern Quebec and Ontario. Boreal forest covers much of the Shield.
TheCanadian Shield is the worlds richest area in terms of mineral deposits. Such as gold, silver, copper, diamonds and emeralds.
Canadian Interior Plains
The Canadian Prairies are part of a vast sedimentary plain.
The plains generally describes the expanses of arable agricultural land which sustain extensive grain farming operations in the southern part of the provinces.
AppalachianMountains
The Appalachian mountains (more specifically the Notre Dame and Long Range Mountains) are an old and eroded range of mountains, approximately 380 million years in age. Notable mountains in the Appalachians include Mount Jacques-Cartier (Quebec, 1,268 m or 4,160 ft and Mount Carleton (New Brunswick, 817 m or 2,680 ft).
Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Lowlands
The southern parts ofQuebec and Ontario, in the section of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence basin, is another particularly rich sedimentary plain. Prior to its colonization and heavy urban sprawl of the 20th century, this Eastern area was home to large mixed forests covering a mostly flat area of land between the Appalachian Mountains and the Canadian Shield.
The Horseshoe Falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario, is one ofthe world's most voluminous waterfalls, a major source of hydroelectric power, and a tourist destination.
POLITICS
Canada is a federal state governed as a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. The Parliament of Canada is composed of three parts: the monarch, the Senate, and the House of Commons. Eachhas a distinct role, but work in conjunction within the legislative process. This format was inherited from the United Kingdom.
Monarch: The sovereign is Queen Elizabeth II, who also serves as head of state of 15 other Commonwealth countries and each of Canada's ten provinces. As such, the Queen's representative, the Governor General of Canada (presently David Lloyd Johnston), carries out mostof the federal royal duties in Canada.
The direct participation of the royal and viceroyal figures in areas of governance is limited. In practice, their use of the executive powers is directed by the Cabinet, a committee of ministers of the Crown responsible to the elected House of Commons and chosen and headed by the Prime Minister of Canada (presently Stephen Harper), the head of government....
