"Red on yellow, kill a fellow" and "red on black, friend of Jack" is a couple of folk rhymes to distinguish between the venomous coral snake (in North America)

PRINCIPAL INFORMATION ABOUT CORAL SNAKE’SHere is the answer: coral snakes are small, beautifully colored snakes; they often have bands or rings of red, black and yellow or white along their bodies. Certain other brightly colored snakes around the world are also known as coral snakes. There are coral snakes in Africa, Asia, Australia, South America, and of course in North America. The two North American species are the Eastern coralsnake, also known as Texas coral snake Micrurus fulvius, and the Arizona-, or Western coral snake Micruroides euryxanthus. The Western coral snake can be found from southern Arizona to northwestern Mexico. It is a relatively small snake usually less than 50 cm long. It mainly inhabits grasslands and dry, deserted regions. It can sometimes be seen after rains, early in the morning or late in theevening.
The eastern coral snake is larger in size, usually 60-75 cm long, and is adapted to a variety of habitats such as dry or humid regions with sandy soil, pinewood and hardwood forests. It is a very secretive snake that hides under the logs.
Both species are slender and tend to be nocturnal. When they are angry or feel threatened they will usually curve their tails into a tight spiral thusshowing their bad mood.
Coral snakes belong to the family Elapidae. So they have a pair of short fangs fixed at the front of their mouths. Coral snakes have powerful neurotoxic venom, nevertheless they rarely bite unless provoked. Many harmless snakes mimic a coral snake- a great way of defending themselves. However there is a difference.
The Elapidae family has about 250 species, distributed fromthe Southeastern and Southwestern United States, through Mexico, Central America and South America, and are also found in Asia, Africa and Australia. In the Americas, there is a group of more than 120 species and subspecies, divided into three genera: Micruroides, with one species; Leptomicrurus with three, and Micrurus, with almost 70 species. Most of the snakes of the Micrurus genus haveterrestrial to subfossorial habits; however, some species are semi-aquatic, such as M. surinamensis and M. lemniscatus
Coral snakes or tails of chili are a group of snake’s venomous Elapidae family owns the tropics. It distinguishes two groups of coral snakes: the Old World has 16 species grouped in 2 genera (Calliophis and Sinomicrurus) and Coral snakes of the New World to settle over 65 recognizedspecies, grouped in 3 genera (Leptomicrurus, Micruroides and Micrurus). They are characterized by bright color. including predominantly yellow, red and black. It is worth mentioning that there are other groups similar hoax calls coral snakes, which are not poisonous and their colors are red, white and black.

There are five general groups of coral snakes:

• Leptomicrurus, with two species -North America.
• Micrurus, with about 70 species - South America
Central and South America.
• Micruroides, with one species - United States and Mexico.
• Calliophis with eleven species - Asia.
• Sinomicrurus with five species - tropical zone of Asia.

THE FALSE CORAL

As we have already stated above, there is a snake that is usually  mixed with the coral snake but is actually knownas "False coral" or "snake Sinaloa" inhabit the same areas semi-arid plains or forests, unlike coral snakes, they are not poisonous and therefore they can have as a pet, the reptile terrarium for a baby should be about 60 cm x 35 cm x 45 cm. The terrarium should have a leak-proof cap because snakes often slip through the gaps least expected. The false coral snakes can not live in terrariums with...
