Climate
Because of its size, Texas is characterized by a great diversity of climates where rainfall and temperatures vary with latitude and altitude.
Southeast Texas is a humid subtropicalclimate and has a similar vegetation of Louisiana.
The average annual temperature is above 15°C.
Summers are hot and humid, due to increased tropical air from the Gulf of Mexico and winters are cool.Between May and September, these regions are affected by the storms and hurricanes that cause great damage.
The West is arid and to the north, snowstorms can paralyze means of transport in winter.Relief
Texas is a transition zone between the plains of the eastern United States and mountains of the American West. The Guadalupe Peak is with 2667 meters (high), the highest point Texas. Partof the mountain range of the Sierra de Guadalupe which is a national park in the country and are located in the southeast of the state of New Mexico and western Texas.
However, the plains, hills andplateaus are the dominant reliefs. The average elevation of the state is 520 m.
Low costs are practically at the same level as the sea, making them vulnerable to the passage of storms and hurricanesin summer.
Hydrography
Texas has 3,700 rivers and 15 river systems. All the state's rivers flow into the Gulf of Mexico. Among the longest can be highlighted:
The Brazos River is the largestriver in Texas, with a length of 2,060 km
El Grande River has a length of 3,034 km, 2,018 km of whose main tributary is the Pecos River (1,490 km.
The Colorado River covers about 1,380 km. Otherimportant rivers are the Texas Sabine River (893 km), Trinidad (885 km) river.
