CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN EUROPE: THE ISLAMIC VEIL
Personally I think that the hijab in Islamic countries is an extremist religious symbol because in the Coram is not specify that women must wear it,that´s why this is just an interpretation that they started applying trying to “protect” their women but at the end the result was a submission of girls by the hand of their fathers, husband andbrothers ; so as in these countries religion is very important, wear this veil is a symbol which says that they carry out with the Islam and women who don´t wear it are not considered very correct, forexample, not in big cities, but in villages is practically impossible to see a women in the street without the veil and in some places also without company. When they wear it in other countries is also forthe importance of religion on their life but also as a identification symbol and because it´s a part of their model of life in their culture.
Until women are young they start wearing it, so for themthis is a way of life, they can´t imagine their self without the hijab, and in most of the cases are the women who doesn´t want to go without it. So maybe at the beginning when they are children theydon’t want to go with the hijab but as the Islam is so strict at the end women are convinced that they must wear the veil and they want to do it without mind if they life there or in Europe.
Not allthe veils have the same meaning, so for example the burka and the niqab doesn´t have nothing to see with the Coram because they are related to cultural habit of tribes. And the differences betweenall the veils are the geographic area where it´s common to use each one and no the value of them.
For me if they want to wear it it´s fine, because each one can wear whatever he wants, and they canwear the veil as for example a Christian wear a cross, except if the veil difficult the communication or if they have to pass any control where they must be identified.
