CHAPTER 1 GREETINGS
GENERAL OBJECTIVE  To talk greetings and significance different cultures about their fromSPECIFIC OBJECTIVES  To learn how to present oneself and the others  To use the verbs to be, to do, to have, the possessive adjectives and pronouns in a communicative context

Preparation
In this topic, we are going to learn how to greet and introduce ourselves, say where we come from and some more details about ourselves. Let us then begin with a play called “name game”. Instructions: You willuse only your first names while playing the game. The class sits or stands in a circle.

Use something small, like a tennis ball or a paper ball. Say your name and throw the ball to a student. Or threadto make a cobweb. This student quickly says his or her name and throws the ball to another student. Continue until all students have participated. We play the game again, but this time round with students saying the name of the person they are throwing the ball to.

After the play
There are as many different types of greetings as there are cultures in the world and the meanings of suchgreetings remarkably vary from one culture to another. Hence, you are asked to share on the importance of greetings as an expression of human relationships with someone next to you. Study and decide where the following greeting styles are used.
