Elemental Differences Between Film Acting And Theatre Acting
So you think that acting is the same thing for all? No, there are big differences in the work a theatre actor or actress does and theone a film actor/actress performs.
Believe it or not, there’s a different way of acting for films, soap operas, TV series and theatre. Acting is something really passionate in all of it is differentcontext but this is not the same, there are different techniques for each one but only film and theatre will be discussed in this essay.
Acting is the only job that you are never too old to do, andthat’s because acting is bringing life to a scene and in life no matter your age, you are alive and that’s enough. When you act in a theatre, you might be at least, in front of hundreds of people andthe people from in first row to the last one must feel what you are projecting. That’s why theatre actors always talk loud and exaggerate their moves, because that is theatre.
Although in both youbring life to a scene, in films the actors eyes appear to be the size of a car in the movie theatre, so there is no need to exaggerate.
A friend of mine always says “Theatre is from the inside out,films are the opposite: from the outside to the inside, absorbing the whole situation and making it as simple as a regular person would” One of the first rules in films is: less is more. The moresimple it is, the deeper it will reach the audience.
Something that draws a clear line between both is that in theatre there are no cuts. Actors and actresses have to practice a lot, because there isonly once chance to make it good. But film acting is not less important because the chance to repeat a scene, and because the extra actor and actress must maintain the feeling of his or her character,and that is not an easy job.
