There are too many people in the world: six billion people, approximately. However, they are getting closer because of communications and technology. More and more people are moving from one country to another and they are becoming intercultural. Intercultural means to understand and accept other cultures, not only yours. Today, it is a necessity to know about othercultures because the world is becoming smaller. The following are some examples of people around the world and their diverse customs.

Do you know anything about the people in Thailand? Thais live in big families in rural areas and typical villages. They have a simple and quiet life. Communal life is essential so they learn to be tolerant. Some Thai students from the capital travel to westerncountries such as the USA and England to get more education. Thais are very respectful and polite. They are Buddhists. Monks are popular in this country. One popular monk was Luang Pu Tuat. He was famous because he had supernatural powers. He meditated, lived in a monastery and built a school for children. In general, Thais remember Luang Pu Tuat so much. Like him, Thais are peaceful and veryreligious.

People in Spain are different from Thais. They speak frankly and directly to other. They enjoy “tapeo”. Tapeo happens when people go from bar to bar at noon, drink wine or beer, and have some ham or “tortillas”. They love speaking a lot so they go to bars to meet people. Flamenco involves music, dance and singing. The guitar is the main instrument for playing flamenco. In the past peoplesang flamenco. In the past, people sang flamenco without music. They only clapped their hands. Actress Penélope Cruz, for example, loves dancing flamenco. She learned this dance from her grandma when she was a child. Like Penélope, Spanish people can travel easily to other countries in Europe and have new cultural experiences.
People in Canada are also different. Canadians are interculturalbecause in their country there are two cultures, French and English. Most people speak the two languages and share cultural experiences. They also communicate with many Americans because Canada borders The USA. Hollywood actor Jim Carrey is a good example. He was born in Canada, but lives in The USA. Canada has modern cities such as Ottawa, Vancouver and Quebec. People have big houses and advancedtechnology. In the past there were many Eskimos in the cold, remote areas. They lived in small villages and fished and hunted seals and whales. Today there are fewer Eskimos. Most people want to live in big cities.
