For upper intermediate and advanced levels (3B and higher). Books: inlingua APP 3B, APP 4A and inlingua business modules.Start dates every 4 weeks, on major intake dates. This program can be taken for 4 weeks (certificate) or 8 weeks (diploma). The course covers business topics and includes upper intermediate and advanced grammar structures and vocabulary. In addition, the following Business Modules are covered: - Resume Writing - Interview Skills - Human Resources - Tourism - Socializing Across Cultures - Meetings- Marketing - Presentations

Students who register and are placed at lower levels will first be placed in appropriate ESL classes according to their level. After reaching the minimum level of 3B, students will be accepted into the Business English course.

CourseDescription: The Business English Program is designed for learners who need to improve their communication skills for work within a professional environment. The language structures are derived from the B2 and C1 levels within the Common European framework with a focus on business English as opposed to general English. In the morning the course is largely dependant on the inlingua internationalAPP series of Business texts (Accelerated Professional Program). These texts introduce grammar structures within the context of Business English, allowing learners to exchange ideas and opinions through a variety of authentic production exercises. In the afternoon the course focuses on the inlingua international Business Module Curriculum. There are four oneweek modules for each session, each with aspecific focus. Throughout the course many supplementary materials will also be used including: Market Leader, The Economist, Canadian Business and The Globe and Mail. Grading scheme for the course: Students will be evaluated in several ways throughout the duration of the course. The four main criteria for evaluation are written exams, presentations, attendance and homework. Students are expectedto achieve 80% in order to advance to the next level. The course also contains daily homework activities, the preparation of presentations and reading assignments. It is every student’s responsibility to maintain a strong work ethic and to be prepared for class.
Attendancepolicy: Because attendance is critical for the learning process, students are encouraged to attend class every day unless they are sick or travelling and have made arrangements with their teacher prior to leaving.
