“Swimming should be praticed by everyone.”
Swimming should be practiced by everyone because it is a way of being active. Being active can help you live longer and feel better. It can improve your mood, help you sleep better and even reduce your risk of conditions like diabetes, coronary heart disease and some cancers. It can help youmanage your weight and improve your balance.
Adults should try to be active for 30 minutes of moderate activity a dat for their general health. Children need an hour a day. But ant improvement on what you currently do is worth it, even small changes can make a big difference to your health.
But, why choose swimming above every other sport or activity in order to get and stay active? 30minutes of steady paced lane swimming burns over 200 calories or for and hour it burns over 400 calories. The pressure and resistance of the water makes your body work a little but harder. 30 minutes in water is worth 45 minutes of an activity on land. The water takes your weight, so swimming can be great for those who want low impact exercise; women during pregnancy or for people who have mobilityproblems or want to protect their joints. There's no ground impact when you swim, and so you protect the joints from stress and strain. In fact, the Arthritist Foundation strongly recommends swimming and water activities for this reason, so much so that they sponsor water classes all over the country. Water aerobics classes are also desirable for this reason, because even if you do jump and hitthe bottom of the pool, you do so with less force because you're buoyant in the water. Not only that, but if you wear or hold a flotation device during a water aerobics class, the impact is even less. It also builds mass; In a study of men who completed an eight-week swimming program, there was a 23.8% increase in the triceps muscle (the back of the arm). My take on muscle mass and swimming isthat if you have been doing no resistance exercise at all and you start to swim, you will certainly get more toned and you may even gain mass like the men in this study. But even without the gain in mass, it's well worth the strength and tone that you will almost certainly gain. Also swimming works for all over toning.
People who swim daily reduce the risk of bad circulation and heart attackby a 40%, because they use their whole body and because of that their heart has to pump blood hard to their arms and legs, helping circulation as well. People who do not swim, in the other hand, increases their risk of blood pressure, bad lungs when growing older, and a major percent of drowning. It is always good to teach children to swim. Why it is good for children? The benefits of swimmingare unique, uplifting, and contribute to the positive development of the child. Through the soothing medium of water, children are able to tap into both their internal and external potentials.
Most children enjoy the water, especially when they are accompanied by Mom or Dad. While swimming can be learnt at any age, some parents feel that getting kids acclimated to the water at an early age isbest, making swimming second nature to them. Swimming classes are available even for babies, who typically show no fear of the water. When classes are started in later years, some kids may be a bit uneasy at first, but with gentle persuasion, they can usually learn to enjoy swimming, so parents should try to ride out any initial resistance; after a few tries, the kids will welcome it.Researchers have documented that the stimulating effect of child-paced infant/toddler swimming lessons has the potential to increase intelligence, concentration, alertness, and perceptual abilities; as well as an improvement in social, emotional, and physical development. Of course, the manifestation of such inspired cognitive, personal and motor development takes time, patience, and repetition....
