ESSAY
For this essay I chose two tales of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales book, Catherine and Frederick and The Two Brothers. For the first tale, I expose my opinion of the tale comparing with real life;and for the second tale, I told what I thought most important of my reading.
I’m going to start talking about Catherine and Frederick, this short tale’s about a married couple, probably farmers. Itfocuses on the wife, Catherine, who has no sense about the things she does. Very much in love with her husband, but blinded for her compassion, pity and stupidity.
For example, she makes the wrongchoices by thinking it is the right ones, no matter the consequences. It show us that sometimes, people can choose a lifestyle and not caring on how the choices made by them, would influence on others.Catherine always had an excuse for all the things that she done. ‘You did not tell me that’- it let her free of guilt, and a justified punishment. But yet, she does not forget if someone tells hersomething to do.
On the other hand, Frederick was a very tolerable husband, always patient with her and my guess is that he’s like that with everybody. Like all marriage, couple of boyfriends, friendsor any kind of relation you will always find someone who does wrong things, and someone who tolerate or bare those things. It is how the world works, how people function.
In a way, you lose youridentity if your choices take over yourself, if you don’t try to change your actions, your way of making things done. Like Catherine, that found herself unknown of who she was, after taking a nap, all withher dress stripped out. Am I like this? - Fundamental question.
Now, about The Two Brothers, this is a story that it tells the life of two brothers, one who is wealthy and the other one very poor.The poor brother had two twins, who love each other very much. It all begins when the poor brother went to hunt something to eat or sell, don´t know well; and he saw a golden bird on top of a tree....
