“School”: A Better Future
How many people are studying? how many students want to go into a college? or have you ever asked how many children want to go to school, but they can’t? These questions have been the controversial and main reason for governors, and many more people for example: In 1969, the author John Holt wrote an essay called “School is bad for children” explaining his critic aboutwhat he thinks of the educational system in the USA. However, us being the readers there are many things that we have to think about for example, do we agree or disagree with others opinions? This essay written by Holt contains three phases that caught my attention and we all should think about. First the author Holt says that children learn to be worthless, untrustworthy, fit only to take otherpeoples orders, and a blank sheet for other people to write on. Second he says “If kids didn’t have to go to school, they’d all be out in the streets”, Third he said “We need to get kids out of the school buildings, give them a chance to learn about the world first hand”, and finally John Holt said, “Let children work together to help each other, learn from each other and other’s mistakes”. Shouldthese points be something to agree or disagree with?

First, Holt said in his essay that children learn to be worthless, untrustworthy, fit only to take other peoples orders, and a blank sheet for other people to write on which is a point to disagree with because children actually gain more confidence in themselves when they first step foot in a school for many different reasons. First, theyusually have new clothes, school supplies, and a fresh clean mind set of meeting new people, making their parents proud of their positive accomplishments in school, and an active system which can be used in a productive way to learn or experience different things that may not be able to be experienced while sitting at home or being out in the streets playing around.

Second, the author Holt usedthe words “If kids didn’t have to go to school, they’d all be out in the street” later contradicting himself saying that this is not true that children can succeed in life without school for many reasons. He said that a child can spend this time to find themselves, that schools could get better because they would have to start making them what they ought to be right now. Also, John said that if achild doesn't want to go to school we as a people can help them to do stuff that will improve their life giving the following as an example “the things that children do during summer and holidays”. Showing this John Holt didn’t think of the possibility that schools are important in life, because if a child goes to school their children would possibly be able to have an easier time acknowledgingmany things that will help them to be a successful person. However, by socially interacting with other students while in school children may be able to find at least an idea of who they want to be in life or what they can become. A child that studies opens a lot of doors in their future which can help economically, socially and productively; economically in the way these children can find a betterjob and find more way of having a greater income than a child who has no study at all. Socially because having a great or steady income these children can open up many opportunities in life for meeting new people by traveling places they haven’t yet gone to which in fact is a greater way of meeting and interacting with more people . And finally this would indeed help in a productive manner becauseknowing more people in many different places can help something grow in a positive way for example, if someone has a small business and would like to make it bigger than knowing all these different people can help them expand their business by getting all these known people to possibly either help expand it or by having people they trust working with them to productively expand their business....
