From BuenosAires will provide support to other Spanish-speaking markets in Latin America: Colombia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. The aim is to increase the advertising business directly with the companies wishingto use the network to approach prospects.
With over 18 million users in Argentina, it was difficult to understand that Facebook, the popular social network in the world, not present in the country,where it is the 44.03% penetration of the population and 68.39 % of Argentines that are connected to the Internet.
Finally, the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg and that is about to leave to gopublic, said Monday his landing in Buenos Aires with offices to be headed by a former Google executive.
Thus, Argentina has become the 18th country outside the United States where the companyheadquarters in the Californian city of Palo Alto has a presence.
From Buenos Aires, this office will be responsible for all operations in the country and provide support to other Spanish-speaking markets inLatin America: Colombia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The objective is to maintain contact with companies wishing to use the network to approach potential customers as Internet access grows strong inthe region.
From sources close to Facebook refused to specify the location and characteristics of the office, the number of people employed, plans, projections and the planned investment. This tookrefuge in the waiting period of time before the official start to bag.
However, the spokesmen acknowledged that the office will aim to increase advertising revenue and social network is notdedicated to software development. Legal issues will remain responsible for a law firm, Baker and McKenzie.
