10 Ways to Engage Your Fans via Status Updates
When it comes to Facebook pages, content is key. If you have a page for your business and are posting the wrong content or no content at all you could be hurting your brand more than you’re helping it. People “liked” your page for a reason. They wantto know about and stay connected with your business, so make sure the information you are posting is fun and related to your industry. We understand that coming up with content can be challenging at times so here are 10 posting strategies we use at Be Sighted Social Marketing to create engagement on our clients pages.

1. Polls
Polls are a great way to interact with your fan base and createengagement on your page. A poll on Facebook allows you to survey your audience by asking a question, and giving your fans answers to choose from. Polls typically have a high interaction rate because they are easy to understand and do not require much thought. Fans just simply select the answer that best fits them or the one that they agree with most. If there is no answer that specifically fits acertain fan there is the option that allows fans to add their own answers to the poll. This option is good to leave open if the question has a broad range of answers, but if it is a simple “yes” or “no” question it’s probably best to leave the option closed so answers are more focused.

2. Fill inthe blank
If you are looking for a way to increase comments on your post try a fill in the blank question. Typically when users scroll through their newsfeed they are not looking at it in detail. They just want to skim through and catch up on what has happened throughout the day. Fill in the blank questions work well because they don’t require a lot of work. People read it, and if it is fun andnot complicated, usually an answer immediately comes to mind and they will leave a comment.

3. Click “Like” if…
A simple way to create engagement on a page is to post a statement with a call to action. Making a simple statement such as "Click 'like' if..." is a very simple call to action. It'snot complicated and typically gets a good response.

4. Industry Tip
It’s important to have posts that are fun for fans to interact with, but it’s also critical you share tips and advice relevant to your industry as well. This will create credibility for your brand by proving you know yourstuff when it comes to your industry. This could also reveal a need a fan might have for your product or service. These posts will typically receive less interaction with fans, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t seeing the information in their newsfeeds and finding it valuable.

5. Create a CaptionWhat do people spend most time on Facebook doing? You guessed it… Looking at pictures! So how do you get people to interact with pictures on your page? Post photos relevant to your industry and then ask the fans to fill in the caption. Usually these pictures are humorous and people really enjoy coming up with the captions. This method is just throwing the pitch by posting the picture and lettingyour fans hit the home run by filling in a humorous caption. Your fans make your page a fun place to interact and you reap the reward. (Watch out for copyrighted images, you don’t want to get in a legal battle over something you posted for fun!)
