Introduction

Since the late nineteenth century, scientists haveobserved a gradual increase in the average temperature of the planet's surface. This increase is estimated to have been between 0.5 ° F and 1.0 ° F. The ten warmest years of the twentieth centuryoccurred between 1985 and 2000, with 1998 the warmest year for which data is taken. This warming has reduced the snow-covered areas in the northern hemisphere, and has caused many of the icebergs floatingin the Arctic Ocean has melted. Recently also it has been observed how, due to this increase in temperature, great portions of ice of Antarctica are had separated of the rest of the polar mass,reducing therefore the size of the frozen continent.
This situation is very serious, because as the planet warms the ice caps melt. It’s melting decreases the amount of heat that can be rejected andtherefore the Earth is getting hotter. Of there the relevance of this small investigation of cause, consequences and possible solution of the subject already indicated above.
