Globalization
Globalization is the growth of the globe or the growth in a worldwide scale. Thanks to globalization we haveimportant things such as trains, planes, computers and mobile devices. We can communicate from one half of the globe to another half of the globe within seconds thanks to an email or something as simpleas a text message. Cities are growing and foreign companies give them the strength to develop, but this might not always be a good thing. In a developing world country with so many problemsglobalization may have positive and negative aspects to it.
Honduras is famous for being one of the biggest banana exporters in the world. Chiquita and Dole Food Company are responsible for Honduras successin the banana industry. Both of these companies are global and help Honduras to freely engage in this economic activity that Honduras is best at. Honduras is also famous for the big “Maquilas” in thecountry. Maquilas are big production plants in where call types of clothes are produced. The brand Champions has one of the biggest Maquilas back in Honduras. Honduras is actually the second largestsupplier of cotton socks to the United States in the world. Honduras has many natural resources that many First World countries don’t have. The capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa is in the top 50 LatinAmerican cities to do business in as well. With technology like this there is a greater interchange of knowledge. The country has a much better pool of technology to improve its productivity.Honduras is still a developing third world country, which is why globalization has a negative effect in Honduras too. With big global companies like Chiquita, Dole and Champions a lot of exploitation goeson. Most of the laborers in Maquilas are woman and are sexually harassed and forced to work for long hours with little pay ($4.00 an hour). Not much can be done because the elite and the government...
