During the most important tournament of the year, I took a ground shot from about 20 meters, playing for Lincoln against the year before winning team, the American school of Peru. It was the final of the tournament and this was a highly important shot for me and my team as it occur in the last minutes of the match when we were losing 1 – 0.
When I prepared for theshot I was feeling very nervous, and I was focusing on the consequences of my shot. Just before the shot I didn’t clearly visualized the target. I didn’t have a clear idea of how I was going to shoot. I focused too much on the position of the barrier. This caused me to forget about looking at the position of the ball as well as where the goal keeper was placed. As a result, I didn’t approached theball from the left, instead I run almost in line with the ball. This affected the whole shoot as I wasn’t correctly placed when approaching the ball. The position of my supporting leg was in line with the ball, which enabled me to control the direction and the height of the ball which negatively affected the accuracy of my shot. This is because the position of my leg affected the whole position ofmy upper body, as it forced me to lean back, therefore decreasing the power of my shot. Because my supporting foot was too close to the ball, I couldn’t lift my leg backwards as much as i wanted. As my supporting leg was almost in line with the ball i had to hit the ball with the front of my foot, instead of using the inside of my boot. Finally I didn’t do a follow through after kicking the ball.This is because I kicked the ball too low and my boot got stuck in the ground, therefore i lost most of the power that i was able to apply to the ball. This resulted in a weak shot which hit the barrier.

This capacity can be clearly seen in the 2011 match of real Madrid against Villarreal. It was a critical situation as they were losing 2 – 1 and it was a very important match. When looking at him completing the shot, is clearly seen how well he is able to complete the shot in a perfectly skillful manner. Hetakes exactly five steps as a run up.
