Introduction
Cerveceria Modelo, which eventually outstripped the other two in production and sales, was founded in 1925 in Mexico City by Braulio Iriarte, with the help of President Plutarco EliasCalles.
Diez Fernandez kept Modelo a private company that financed its expansion into producing malt, bottles, bottle caps and corks, and cartons through earnings rather than borrowing. He alsoacquired the regional breweries producing Victoria (1935), Estrella (1954), and Pacífico (1954).
Modelo established plants in Ciudad Obregón (1960), Guadalajara (1964), and Torreón (1966) and created anational distribution network.

Grupo modelo is leader in the elaboration, distribution and sale of beer in Mexico, counts on seven brewing plants in the Mexican Republic with an installed capacity of60,0 million annual hectoliters of beer.
At the moment it has twelve brands and it export five brands in 159 countries

In 1925 the cerveceria modelo was opened in Mexico City

In 1966 Modelo Especial was the first canned beer to enterthe Mexican market
In 1990 Corona was first exported to places such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Greece, as well as countries with a strong beer-drinking tradition such as Holland, Germany andBelgium.
In 1994 Grupo Modelo was first listed in the Mexican Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol GMODELOC.
In 1997 Corona became the number one imported beer in the US.
In 2003 Construction on themalting facility in Idaho Falls began.
In 2005 Grupo Modelo celebrated its 80 anniversary.
In 2006 The joint venture between Grupo Modelo and Constellation Brands was announced.
In 2007 Constructionbegan on the eighth Grupo Modelo brewery in Nava, Coahuila
