“Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut.
One of the main themes in Vonnegut´s short story is the danger of extreme Governmental control. In thiskind of fantasy world people are not allowed to make decision by themselves. No one can choose what they want to take part in, and feel what theywant to feel, because they are monitored all time in order not to think.
Vonnegut highlight´s the value of individual freedom with Harrison´scharacter, a teenager who challenges the government and wants to overthrow it.

The insistence on total equality seeps into the citizens, whobegin to dumb themselves down or hide their special attribute; for this reason in this kind of society there are not shades of gray.

(E.q.) WhenGeorge tries to think and remember Harrison and the little handicap into his ear doesn´t allow him to even try to connect past memories.
(E.q)when Hanzel tries to persuade George to rest his handicap bag on the pillow and he refuses to do it, because he will be no equal to his wife inthose seconds.
The government in Vonnegut’s story tortures its citizens, with cruel strategies of domination that in my opinion doesn’t archivethe main concept of equality
Furthermore the concept of equality that the government encores’ is the Equality to the letter. “-Nobody is smarteror better than anybody else-“

To sum up the real value of equality is an abstract concept that can be objective by human right and law.
