This is been my life and I wanted to share some information about the creation of this wonderful sport, some facts of history and about today’s.
First Point (CREATION)
The beginning of this modern game has its origins in a school in the United States in 1891. The founder’sname of this game is James Naismith, sports instructor in the YMCA (Association of Young Christians) in Springfield, Massachusetts.
There are some theories about how Naismith invented this passionate discipline. One of them described that this perseverance for conceptualize a hard mission, Naismith frustrated after repetitive tries he was squeezing papers where he was pointing his ideas, ideasthat right after he was throwing to a trash can, until that moment that he realized that his repeated “mistakes” would give him the possibility to capitalize the invention that he was looking for.
Other theory mentioned that this Canadian educator remembered an old game that he used to play when he was a child named “duck on a rock” that consisted to reach and object that was putted on a rockthrowing a rock to it.
James specified the 13 basic rules of this game and today still, but as part of the evolution of this sport it was made some modifications to adequate to the new generations in where this game is mainly based in speed of how the points are made and the spectacular way to make them.

Occasioned by the long winters in Springfield, and the urgency that the students could maintainentertained and in good physical conditions, James considered to create a new game that could be play in a close building and in a reduced space. Naismith analyze the spots activities practiced on that season, which predominant characteristic was the use of Force and a lot of physic contact and thought on something that requires more skills than everything else. He asked to the person in charge of the gymnasium of the School boxes of 50 cm of diameter, but theonly thing that was found was peach basket, more opened from one side than the other. And at the absence of something better he decided to put them on two poles on the gymnasium at aprox 3m of height. The ball initially used was a soccer ball. And finally they got this new game. That at the beginnins was named "Naismith-ball", but he didn’t like it that much. And finally it was named as simple asit was “Basket-Ball”.
Second Point (Expansion)
In the first years the game had some changes to make it more attractive and popular to the youth. The main transformation was made on the number of players required to play.
