The Arabs

Arab people, also known as Arabs are ethnic groups primarily living in the Arab world, which is located in Western Asia and North Africa. They are identified as such on one or moreof genealogical, linguistic, or cultural grounds, with tribal affiliations, and intra-tribal relationships playing an important part of Arab identity.
The Arabs were a Semitic-speaking people just as othercivilizations such as the Hebrews and Assyrians. They inhabited the Arabian Peninsula which was a desert land without rives or lakes in Western Asia and Northern Africa. Because of the harshenvironment they lived in, they needed to move to found water and food for them and their animals; they became nomad people.
Their organization to move all together was in tribes who helped one another. Eachtribe was ruled by a sheikh, a man who was elected from the leading families by the council of elders. Each tribe was independent, although the tribes were connected and had a social relationship.The most common professions among the Arabians were farmers and sheepherders. Because of this, the camel became domesticated in the first millennium B.C, and Arabs were able to populate more of thedesert. They developed routes along the desert, they traveled in caravans, and population started to settle along the routes. Soon, Arabs became major carries of goods between Indian Ocean and theMediterranean.
Early Arab religion consisted in polytheism so they believed in many gods. After, Arabs traced their ancestors to Abraham and his son Ishmael who were believed to build the Kaaba (a houseof worship) at Makkah. Then their recognized a supreme god named Allah but they still believed in other tribal gods.
