India officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya), is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people.
Itscapital is New Delhi and its largest city is Mumbai.
It has the 11th largest economy in the world in nominal terms.

India is a federation composed of 28 states and 7 union territories.All states, as well as the union territories of Pondicherry and the National Capital Territory of Delhi, have elected legislatures and governments.
