Version UQP-501-01 Version 2 Issued on 17/06/2013 Valid until 31/12/2012

Purpose
Unilever is one of the largest producers of branded consumer goods in the world and has an international reputation for the quality and safety of its products. This reputation has been built up over many years and is one of the cornerstones behind our brands in the countries inwhich we operate. Unilever’s mission is to meet everyday needs for nutrition; hygiene and personal care with brands that help people feel good, look good and get more out of life. A key requirement is building in the quality expectations of our consumers into our products. The requirements outlined in this document are essential for the effective management of consumer safety and quality. In orderto maintain this reputation, Unilever has strict consumer safety, quality, environmental and occupational safety standards to which all our factories MUST adhere. Third party producers of Unilever branded products or suppliers of materials have to achieve these same standards. This is indicated by the word MUST in this document. This standard describes requirements for all first tier supplierspurchased by Unilever Procurement. Excluded are all other aspects of supplier approval e.g. strategic, financial and other elements of the business partner code. The Technical Capability Approval (i.e. ability of suppliers to technically deliver a specified ingredient or product) and the performance of the supplier are also excluded.

Principles
Unilever can only purchase materials (Rawingredients and packaging) and co-manufactured intermediate & finished goods from an approved supplier location. A supplier location must be approved prior to first use in Unilever operations and a specific supplier location is rated as either approved or non-approved. New or current suppliers who receive a non-approved rating must take actions to achieve approval in order to continue to supply Unilever.Only specified audit certification bodies, approved by Unilever Group Quality Excellence, can be used to conduct an audit against this standard. To verify whether suppliers operate in accordance with these ‘Requirements’ Unilever will commission a certified audit company to perform an on-site audit of the supplier’s facility or evaluate capability using a questionnaire. The philosophy withinUnilever is that quality and safety of products cannot be satisfactorily tested after manufacture. Unilever therefore adopt a policy of safety and quality through design, prevention and operational control. Consequently, by designing safety and quality into our materials, products and processes we can be assured the products meet our high standards. For food safety the key foundation of thispreventative approach is the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. The HACCP system forms the basis of the product safety systems for all Unilever materials or products. For non-food materials and packaging materials Unilever expects companies to have a structured risk assessment process in place to identify and control manufacturing risks similar to the HACCP approach. The requirementsdescribed in this document define the minimum required standards to be attained within the company facilities. Depending on the products being manufactured, additional requirements may be applicable and these will be communicated directly to the company by Unilever. IMPORTANT NOTE 1: The standards defined in this manual are internal to Unilever and its company business partners and MUST not bedisclosed to other third parties, other than those specifically designated by Unilever. All standards described MUST be applied to local manufacture. However, if local legislation imposes a stricter standard, this legislative standard MUST be adhered to. If the local legislative standard is less restrictive than the Unilever standard, the Unilever standard MUST be applied.
