Luis Ernesto Miramontes Cárdenas (1925 - 2004) Inventor of the first oral contraceptive, was a Mexican chemist born in Tepic, Nayarit on March 16 and died in Mexico City on September 13. He studied at the National College Preparatory School of UNAM, BS in Chemistry at UNAM researcher and was co-founder of the Institute of Chemistry at the same university, conducting research in thearea of organic chemistry.
