1. Why do you thinkKowalski stayed in his neighborhood when all of his neighbors had moved to the suburbs?
R/ Because for Mr. Kowalski was a quiet neighborhood and it was the place where he shared with his latewife.
2. Perhaps the hardest part to stomach of Gran Torino is the repeated use of racial slurs. Do you think Kowalski was a racist?
R/ He mocked and insulted the other races, but neverdiscriminates Hmong neighbors.
3. The miscommunication between Kowalski and his sons was epic. Based on what is presented in the movie, what would be some steps the son could have taken to re-open thelines of communication?
R/ Share more with him not only on special occasions, and to call if he wants to know not only interest.
4. What changed Kowalski’s opinion of his Hmong neighbors?
R/Mr. Kowalski saw his neighbors as a family he never had.
5. When confronted with the priest, Kowalski closed the door on his because he was too young to comprehend what Kowalski was goingthrough. Should the priest have honored his parishner’s wishes, tried harder, or done the same as was presented in the movie?
R/ He must be stronger to protect and fulfill the promise Kowalski, but Mr.Kowalski never wanted your help and the priest did everything he could.
6. Kowalski fathered Thao in a way that he didn´t his own children. Why?
R/ The family requests the assistance of Mr.Kowalski to learn Thao guy stuff, and Kowalski accept because that would pay the attempt to steal the car.
7. The Hmong people celebrated Kowalski as a hero. Was he a hero, a vigilant, or anutcase?
R/ For Hmong, Mr. Kowalski was a hero to save Thao of the gang, but he just took care of his garden.
8. Which character was more righteous, Kowalski or the priest?
