The word Halloween comes from "All Hallows Eve" which literally means "All Saints Eve" or the first of November. In countries withAnglo-Saxon roots as they celebrate the eve celebrations coincided with the fall of the Celts. The Catholic Church in its mission of evangelization took many parties "pagan" and Christianized, this being one of them. So if you look at a Catholic calendar in English the first of November. says "All Hallow's day."
It is the same case with the Day of the Dead. Prehispaniccultures worshiped death and ancestors. Step for colonization as with the Celts, was christened their party, to celebrate the two days together. The Day of the Dead or Dia de Muertos is two. Itis a purely Latin American celebration, more marked in Mexico by its uniqueness, but held in most countries, such as Guatemala where my luncheon prepared and fly kites (kites) giants.
