Iran’s Nuclear Program
Ever since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, weapons of mass destruction have become a sensitive subject for every country in the world. The danger posed bynuclear power has been evident for over half a century; as early as 1939, when Albert Einstein issued a letter to President Roosevelt begging cautiousness and regulation of this shocking force. Nowadays,Iran’s Nuclear Program is an example of what needs to be regulated. The question here is how to approach the situation.
Iran launched its first nuclear program in the 1960s and was shut in 1979,renewed in 2002 in government of Mohammad Khatami. The president of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says their intention is to create a civilian atomic energy program only to generate electricity, but the mainbothering problem is ¨the development of a nuclear program. Iran may create nuclear bombs and other weapons of mass destruction¨.
For decades, the world has been a witness to the conflicts in theMiddle East; for decades the world has sat idle. Through inaction, we have allowed matters to worsen and escalate into what they are now. Rogue states support terrorist operations; power struggles in somenations, threatening political stability, and constant suicide bombings eliminate the little hope for safety people might still have. Among all these problems, one of the most alarming is the matterof the Iran developing its own nuclear weapons.

Since 2005, Iran has been developing its nuclear program leading some European countries to break off long talks about the matter and start newnegotiations to stop the Iran’s secret program. Months ago, the international press released that Iran “was moving rapidly to produce nuclear fuel.” For that reason, the European Union’s response decisionwas to cut off Iranian oil imports and to freeze the assets in July.
