Isabella Os Castilla

Queen Isabella of Castile co-ruled the country of Spain with her husband king Ferdinand of Aragon from 1474 until 1504.She reigned for almost thirty years. A common nick name that the Spanish popewould call her was “la catolica” which means the catholic. She was the daughter of king John of Castile and queen Isabel of Portugal. Ferdinand and Isabella had five children they had four girls and twoboys there names were Isabella, John, Joan, Maria and Catherine.
Queen Isabella of Castile was born on April 22, 1451, in a town called madrigal de la Torres. Isabella’s father died when shewas only three. Her older brother Henry toke the throne. It was supposed to take the throne but he passed away. After Henry died it was time for Isabella to heir the throne at that time she was onlytwenty six. Henrys daughter was supposed to heir the throne but Henry had chosen Isabella to. He thought it would make peace with the nobles. King Henry also wished that Isabella married Don Carlosprince of Vienna. He was the eldest of john II. But the king of Aragon wanted Isabella to marry his son king Alfonso V of Portugal. Isabella ad made her final decision of marrying king Ferdinand Henrywas angry he even wanted to throw Isabella in the dudgeon but he did not. Isabella promised her brother she would make no plans until Henry came from Andalusia. Isabella broke her promise and went to gofind Ferdinand in Sicily to marry him. King Henry accepted his new brother in law King Ferdinand of Aragon.


According to CtSpanish, Queen Isabella had created a motto, “Tanto Monta, MontaTanto. Isabel Como Fernando”- As much as the one is worth so much is the other; Isabella and Ferdinand.”
