IT SEEMS LIKE WE ALL HAVE ALZHEIMER
After 50 years of war the government decide to trust the guerrilla again.
The armed conflict in Colombia was originated in 1960, it has been 52years in which the country has been in the middle of a war that has bled the red fringe of the Colombian flag; during this long period there have been many peace attempts that so far havenot produced satisfactory fruits that lead to a possible end to the conflict.
Some of the causes for the Colombian armed conflict to develop could be focus on poverty, lack of education,government neglect, poor socio-economic households, concentration or monopolization of the field by landowners and peasant displacement to urban centers due to lack of opportunities tosurvive by selling their products. Situations and conditions that generated discontent and resistance that led to a complex conflict in the country formed by groups that decided to take uparms to fight against social inequality that existed at the time.
Over the years these armed groups have had many changes because the first struggles were full of clear principles on thedesire for a greater social equality. But this fight has faded because to survive, to be armed and exert more control over territories attended criminal practices such as kidnapping,extortion and drug trafficking. However the assistance provided by the international community at the beginning of the fight, has been withdrawn.
Colombian society has desired and supportedvarious peace processes that different governments have tried, but so far none has succeeded in reaching a real peace agreement. It can be said that the general feeling is that thegroups who achieved peace agreements like the M-19, paid little or nothing for the damage done to the country and its citizens, but in it return they received clemency and political patronage.
