Introduction

Anyone But Me is the first book of a collection of the series named Katie Kazoo Switcheroo. The series is about a girl, Katie Kazoo, who used to be a normal third grader until ‘themagic wind’ swept into her life. The series was written by Nancy Krulik and illustrated by John and Wendy.

Information

The story takes place during the day in an elementary school, in a thirdgrade classroom and the neighborhood.
The characters are as follows:
Katie: She is the main character. She is an eight years old girl with red hair, green eyes, and freckles. She is a good girl, abit shy, who likes to help people and has good friends.
Suzanne: She is Katie’s best friend. She is not shy. She likes doing things, being the center of attention and never worries about making amistake.
Jeremy: He is also Katie’s best friend. He is always looking out for her, tries to make her feel better. Katie described him as slow and steady.
George: He is the class bully. He is alwaysmaking mean jokes and others are afraid of him. He makes fun of Katie and comes up with her nickname Katie Kazoo.
Speedy: He is the class mascot, a hamster.
Mrs. Derkman: She is the class teacher.The story starts at recess in school. The kids were playing football and Katie did not catch the ball and her team lost. George started making fun of her and Katie felt really bad. Katie’s friendsSuzanne and Jeremy went to help her and try to make her feel better. But, as they left running Katie stepped into a puddle and got all dirty. Then George started to make fun of her again and Katie feltreally bad, like crying.
