Jose Maria Morelos y Pavón (Valladolid, Michoacán, September 30, 1765 - Ecatepec, Mexico, December 22, 1815) was a priest and rebel Mexican military, which organized andwas the architect of the second stage (1811-1815) the War of Independence from Mexico. Born in Valladolid, and studied during the early years of his life with his maternal grandfather. In 1789, heentered the seminary of Valladolid, where he graduated in 1795. In 1799 he was appointed parish priest of Caracuaro, where he remained until 1810. It was commissioned by Miguel Hidalgo, October 20, 1810in Charo (Michoacán), as rebel leader in southern Mexico, responsible for taking major cities and cut off communication with the countries of East Asia, and its main parcel was to take the Acapulco,considered strategic for the communication of the New Spain.1 From 1811 and until the start of its military decline in 1814, Morelos, helped many lieutenants, succeeded in conquering most of southernand central part in the region of the current state of Morelos, which developed between the February 9 and May 2, 1812, his most famous military action, the Siege of Cuautla, in its namesake city,which became the main enemy of the royal army. He also organized the Congress of Anahuac, the first legislative body in Mexican history, which met there in Chilpancingo (Guerrero current) duringSeptember and November 1813. There Morelos presented their Sentiments of the Nation. Congress approved October 22, 1814, in Apatzingan, the first Constitution of Mexico, Morelos but then declared that "it isbad for unworkable" 2 After several defeats, was arrested on November 5, 1815 in Temalaca, 3 by Colonel Manuel de la Concha, was tried by the Inquisition, and finally executed on 22 December 1815.1.
