La Vida Es Bella

Laughing in the face of hardship is the best way to triumph over it. This is a feeling I share with Roberto Benigni, director of Life is Beautiful (La Vita è Bella) the only movie to ever make melaugh out loud and leave me with sad tears in my eyes; I lack words to describe this marvelous movie. Roberto Benigni has proven to be one of the best film directors of all time. With this, his debutfeature, has broken all the molds of quality and beauty in the film. If there is a perfect film, perhaps this is the closer, because I have never seen a story so wonderful, nor so well-designed, nor sosurprising, nor so lovely, nor so magical ... And so I could go up to infinity.
The manner in which the fantasy and magic pervades everyday life, first in a Tuscan village, and then in a Naziconcentration camp; the manner in which a man endowed with a boundless imagination able to fill up their lives and the lives of their loved ones of pure happiness, love, hope; the amazing way in which failto protect your family from the terrible threat that looms over them.
This is a film that speaks to us of the hope and imagination are the way to overcome all the distress. Encourages us not to losethe smile, to uncover the life to the fullest, to love without restrictions, to resort to the magic of a gesture or a detail that will serve to make someone else happy. It is a hymn to overcome, tothe ability to resist the fear with the best face to give us strength and hope to our loved ones when they are in danger. And also an ode to peace, making us see, with its tender ingenuity, theabsurdity of the wars and the feelings of hatred and the ideologies that threaten the human integrity.
