An English teacher must know about the originsand development of English as a language. It is a requirement to understand how this language that is he or she is studying has evolved over the time, what influences have taken place to make thosechanges, and how that influenced people and societies, what it reflects about human behavior and their constant evolution, what process are involved in the learning of languages, its origins, it issurely something we must pay attention to either for become a more complete English teacher or just for general knowledge, for any reason a teacher needs this knowledge because languages is what we arecaring about, we are going to teach and is our duty to become masters of the language. What we are seeing in this essay are descriptions and personal opinions about the origins of languages, and morespecifically English.
The origin of English language is the main characteristic that someone who is going to teach English must know because that person needs to understand the development of thelanguage from its very beginning and how it has been transforming and evolving till today. As we have known through history and sciences, languages has become a principal necessity for the humankind sincewe remember, societies couldn’t exist if it wasn’t for this capacity, It’s curious thing that every earliest communities evolved the same way even when they didn’t have contact with each other, Ilove the fact that in almost every culture is used the word “mama” or “papa” to refer to our parents when we are babies, for everyone those are the very first words we learn in our life, and it seems tobe something we can barely change. Although the origins of languages are still discussed we can go for some theories like Darwin’s theory of evolution or a more mythical one like Babel Tower story,...
