Malaga is one of the largest cities in Spain, and the second one in Andalusia. Is located in the Mediterranean coast, in a bay between mountains and the population exceeds 500,000 people.It was founded by the Phoenicians in the eighth century BC, which makes it one of the oldest cities in Europe.
Malaga was dominated by Carthaginians, Romans, Germanic peoples and was later conqueredby the Arabs. The Catholic Monarchs conquered the city in the fifteenth century. After the conquest of the Catholic Monarchs, after centuries of mandate, the city became an industrial center, butalso exporting wine, raisins and silk to other sites.
In the twentieth century was proclaimed the Second Spanish Republic, and riots occurred in Malaga (burning of convents) by left-wing extremists,and in Malaga was created the first Communist Party of Spain. Due to the large number of people dedicated to socialism, anarchism and communism, people started calling Malaga "Málaga the red".
Thishas made the city of Malaga has a rich culture because of its history.
As for the arts, Malaga is full of museums. Among them are the Picasso Museum, the Museo Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza, Museum ofGlass and Crystal, the Interactive Museum of Music and the Museum automotive, among others.
In the field of economics, I think that tourism is one of the most important things for the city ofMalaga. The beach of Malaga is one of the most important tourist attractions, but foreigners also come to see the many monuments that the city has. Examples include the Roman theater, Gibralfaro Castle,the Alcazaba and the Cathedral of Malaga.
Regarding culture and tourism (in my opinion), we find the Malaga gastronomy, which is well appreciated by foreigners.The gastronomy of Malaga is situated inthe Mediterranean diet, and one of the most typical things is the fried fish like boquerones, horse mackerels, squids ... Another typical dish is gazpacho.
