1. Introduction
Migration is deeply inscribed in the itineraries of much contemporary thinking. From conversations popular intellectual discussions about the meaning of life and official documents commercials about ways of living, everywhere is talking about moving, going somewhere, crossing borders, of being displaced.
This does not mean that migration-the movement of people and goods, is anew phenomenon. So perpetual and inevitable, people are always moved, traveled, moved. The histories of trade and exchange, invasions and conquests, persecutions of dreams or of the good life are in fact chronic long-distance business and travel. However, simply point to the historical character of migration in no way reduces to a phenomenon of incidental importance or significance to thecontemporary configuration of our world.
The movement of people and goods is no longer limited to binary paths between nation-states, units of governance in inter-national order that was created in the early nineteenth century. The direction of movement is not simply the peripheries to the centers, the first third worlds. Third World citizens are everywhere in Japan, Indians, Filipinos in Dubai,Zimbabweans in Botswana, Colombia in Sweden, and so on. First World citizens seeking fortunes in the third worlds, the British in Hong Kong, Berlin and Dublin, Americans in Libya, Mexico, etc.
This does not mean that the movements and migration can not be identified or are unconditional. Migration patterns are regulated and are according to trends and economic pressures, political and historical. Nordoes it mean that nation states have been put forward in its task of monitoring and managing the movement. The movement of people and goods cross borders in fact nation-states and obey the rules of sovereignty.
However, contemporary migration trends do show significant new. As exemplified by the disappearance of the distinction between "migration" (out-migration) and "immigration" (inwardmigration), migration is treated less and less of origins and destinations, leaving home and settling in strange places. Contemporary migration refers to the "border crossings" (Rosaldo, 1989) and "multiple connections" (Nuhoglu Soysal, 1997)-with simultaneous presence here and there.
The goal of this essay is to make a brief account of past, present and future of Turkish migration to Europe. Startwith the history of the Turks as guest workers on their way to Germany and finish with the prospects for immigration in a Europe where there is intensive discussion on Turkey's accession to the European Union. This, I argue that Turkish migrants in Europe are not prisoners of ethnic essences (the "Turkishness") or religion ("Islam"), and in fact segregated living outside the host societies.Instead, try to show they are solidly built-in economic, social and cultural development of Europe.
The test aims to provide a reference that summarizes the current status of Turkish immigration. The trends presented here are not always positive, but not necessarily discouraging. One aspect that clearly show the legal incorporation of migrants to the institutions of society, the rights and ownershipregimes, and economies of property and inequality

2. The past “Turkish migration begins in Europe”
Turkish migration to Europe began in the 1960s, in 1963, to be exact. Throughout the sixties, the Turkish government signed bilateral agreements with several European countries, resulting in what was called Guestworker programs (temporary workers). In 1972, the 500,000 th employee left Turkeyto go to their new home and workplace: Germany. One photograph shows a worker walking time between two official-looking people in dark suits, hand carrying two carefully wrapped gift boxes, delivered to mark the occasion. Sometime later, the 1 million workers who came to Germany was received at the airport one worthy of hero, complete with gifts, of course.
The protagonist of this story is the...
