Nuclear Energy
One of the great advantages of using nuclear energy is the relationship between the amountof fuel used and the energy produced.
As an alternative to fossil fuels such as coal or oil, we would avoid the problem of global warming, which has an important influence to global climate change. Also improve the quality of the air we breathe and would have a reduction in disease.
The advantage of nuclear power is well known: provide carbon free energy at reasonable prices. So, why Colombiadoes not install a nuclear reactor? Just do not need it. Since 1981 has been discussed in the country's chance to build a nuclear plant to generate electricity. However, despite the famous blackoutexperienced in 1992, the country doesn’t need the nuclear option for the next 50 years, since we know Colombia is a country rich in gas, coal and oil that are the main sources of energy production.
Themain drawback and what makes it more dangerous is that security in using falls on the people.
The generation of nuclear waste and the difficulty to manage them as they take many years to lose itsradioactivity and danger.
Just a positive impact on climate change because the main source of emissions is road transport.
The construction and operation of a nuclear plant is too expensive.
But,sometimes atomic plants show their more dangerous side. For example the major nuclear accidents in history have been:
· 1957, Mayak (Russia)
· 1957 Windscale (UK)
· 1979 ThreeMile Island (USA)
· 1986, Chernobyl (Ukraine)
· 1987 radiological accident in Goiania (Brazil)
· 1999, Tokaimura (Japan)
· 2011, Fukushima (Japan)
From all...
