Some inconveniences on the peace process in Colombia
In the past five decades, the peaceprocess in Colombia has been a concerned due to the armed conflict. Initially, this process seems to be leader by the government and many presidents have tried to get this achieved but there have been alot of inconveniences. Even though it looks like the government responsibility, it is, actually, the whole Colombian people concern. Hence, this process should be accomplished by government, armedgroups and nation.
Colombian presidents have kept communication with the armed groups in order to get an agreement. However, some of these conversations have had good solutions but some of them have nothad any solution yet. For instance, during the Belisario Betancourt’s government, there was an accomplishment about ceasefire and demobilization of some members of the FARC. On the contrary, in theAlvaro Uribe’s government, there were some issues due to he was not agree with the conversations without having a previous commitment to stop criminal activities from the armed groups because theymurder Colombians and keep talking. Furthermore, Uribe stated that the victims’ rights will not be respected if the prioritization and selectivity were not investigated with a framework in which heinouscrimes are unpunished. On the other hand, the current president, Juan Manuel Santos thinks that the peace process could be done by negotiation with the armed groups. Therefore, Santos booked somenegotiations with the FARC, which will start in Oslo on October 15th 2012, in order to achieve a permanent and durable peace in the country.
Despite the fact some governments are arguing about theconversations, it is also an armed groups` commitment to achieve a notably solution to the whole nation. Thus, there will be democracy and each person will recover his or her rights by giving terrorism up...
