Las preposiciones de lugar
• IN - Para indicar ‘dentro de’ en espacios cerrados o lugares pequeños.
e.g. She is in the garden / in the kitchen/ in the shop / in the park.
my keys are in my pocket/ in the box / in my bag.
- Para hablar de ciudades o paises.
e.g. I am in France, in the north east of Italy.
She lives in Boston.
• ON - Para indicar ‘sobre’ ‘en la superficie de’.
e.g. Thereare coins on the desk.
She has her hands on her skirt.
• AT - Para indicar posición en un punto en concreto, como si lo
hiciéramos en un plano.
e.g. Somebody is at the door.
I’m at Baker Street,waiting at the bus-stop.
- Para indicar que estamos en un edificio por razones profesionales o
académicas.
E.g. I’m at the university (as a student) / at work / at the office/ at the hospital

• IN - Para hablar de años, estaciones, meses y partes del día
(exceptuando ‘at night’)
E.g. In 1992 / in Winter / in September / in the afternoon…
• ON - Para los días dela semana.
E.g. On Mondays I go to the gym.
My favourite programme is on Friday.

E.g. The concert is on 16 October.My birthday is on New Years’ Day.
• AT - Para decir las horas.
E.g. I start work at 8 o’clock.
- Para indicar un momento específico en el tiempo.
E.g. At the begining / at the end / of his life…At the age of 18 years old…
• FROM….TO
- Para hablar de un periodo de tiempo indicando el principio y el final del mismo.
e.g. I lived in Portugal from 1975 to 1980
I work from 9 to 1 everyday.• UNTIL- Para marcar el final de un periodo.
e.g. She studied English until she went to England.
My husband is travelling until the end of the year.
• SINCE- Para hablar del principio de un periodo.e.g. I work in this shop since 2002.
They are in hospital since last week.
• FOR – Para hablar de la duración de un periodo.
e.g. We lived together for 10 years.
George was on holidays for 2...
