ALGEBRA 2 PROJECT
INVESTIGATING QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS
We’ve spent about five weeks talking about quadratic equations, how to factor them, and how to solve them. As we get ready for our midtermexamination of the semester, we are going to create a small project. It is due no later than the beginning of class on November 20.
For your project, you can choose to either make a small poster, a scrapbook,or a flip‐book. Whichever style of project you choose, it needs to have
information on 9 topics. Before creating your project, you must find the basic information about the graph of your quadraticfunction.
You must choose ONE QUADRATIC FUNCTION and it must include the following:
How to graph quadratics in standard form (y = ax2 + bx + c) including

Write the equation thatyou have chosen at the top of your project page in bold font or highlighted.
Create a table.
Does the parabola open upward or downward? How can this be determined from the equation?
What is the axisof symmetry? Include the formula that you use to find the axis of symmetry.
What are the coordinates of the vertex of your parabola?
What is the minimum or maximum value of your parabola and how wasit determined?
What is the y – intercept of your parabola?
What are the roots / zeros / x – intercepts of your parabola?
You must find the roots of the function in two ways;
 Solve by factoring
Solve by using the Quadratic Formula
9. Graph the parabola on graph paper.
 The graph of the parabola must be drawn on the graph paper.
 The graph must indicate the scale that is being used.
 Allpoints must be labeled as listed above.
10. Reflection Page:
How do you know which method should be used when solving a quadratic equation. Explain under what circumstances each method would be
preferredover any of the other methods. Provide an example for each circumstance.
