I shall never forget myfirst visit to a Welsh village. It stood near a little river. The mountains rose high all around it. The houses were two-storey, built of rock and brick, and roofed with slate tiles. The bedrooms and thebathroom were upstairs. The living-room, the dining-room, the kitchen and the toilet were on the ground floor. Stony tracks ran between the rows of houses. On a cloudy day these Welsh villages lookrather lonely and gloomy, but on sunny days they look wonderful. Folk songs could be heard from a pub nearby. The Welsh are very fond of music and poetry. The Welsh population is mostly Celtic inorigin and many Welsh people can speak the language of their ancestors. On the other hand, those old Welsh villages are the perfect setting for filming the romantic scenes of ancient historical stories oflove and mystery.
