Robert L. Leahy, PhD, is President of the International Association for
Cognitive Psychotherapy, President-Elect of the Academy of Cognitive
Therapy, Founder and Director of the American Institute for Cognitive
Therapy (www.CognitiveTherapyNYC.com), and Professor of Psychology
in Psychiatryat Weill–Cornell University Medical College. He is the author
or editor of many publications, including Roadblocks in CognitiveBehavioral Therapy, Psychological Treatment of Bipolar Disorder (with
Sheri L. Johnson), Overcoming Resistance in Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive
Therapy Techniques, and Treatment Plans and Interventions for Depression and Anxiety Disorders (with Stephen J. Holland). Dr.Leahy’s book
The Worry Cure was named by Self magazine as one of the top eight selfhelp books of all time.
Dr. Leahy is frequently invited to lecture nationally and internationally. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy (having served as Editor from 1998 to 2003) and is a Founding Fellow of the
Academy of Cognitive Therapy. He serves on the Executive Committee of
theInternational Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy, the Executive
Board of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and the Scientific Advisory
