Role of Reason in contrast with the other WoK (Language, Perception, Emotion)
Reason is a man’s tool to understand things, to think, and to formjudgement that are logically correct. Reason uses deduction, induction and logics, and is entirely objective-leaving aside any subjectivity or bias feelings that could affect a scientific result-per say.Reason needs to be clear not only to the person applying it, but to other as well, therefore when using vagueness, confusing feelings or the instinct one is not using reason because it is not providingclear and understandable ideas. Hence, reason uses deduction, induction and logics because these 3 are clear and concise.
Reason is the method of thinking in a clear and organized way to achieveknowledge, since it is organized its importance is on the method, and the way it is utilize defines the validity of said method.
However, even when reason is the translator-so to speak-of the other waysof knowing, it still closely linked to perception. This happens due to the fact that most humans gain knowledge by the mere action of observing, using their minds to identify what they have observedby gathering more perceptual information until they can fully comprehend what they see. For example, if the majority of people saw a tree that has green leaves it is logical that a tree has greenleaves. It goes even deeper thanks to chlorophyll, which is the chemical that gives leaves their colour green. It’s a logical statement. No one would ever doubt that a tree has green leaves and not blueor pink leaves. Even if it is logical and it’s mere reasoning, that information was gathered from observing different types of trees all around the world and therefore coming to terms with the factthat, yes, trees do have indeed only green leaves. Perception unravelled a concept that could probably fit more accurately in reason, but ultimately perception has to be linked with reason, because...
