¿Qué es el Reported Speech y cuándo se utiliza?
    El R.S. es algo tan sencillo como contar algo que ha ocurrido en otro momento. Ya puede ser una conversación que oímos a alguien, un cotilleo, una película, las noticias, o cualquier situación en la que alguien ha hablado. Aunque no lo parezca, en nuestra propia lengua lo estamos utilizando continuamente. Siempreestamos contando cosas a los demás. Y por supuesto, cuando hablamos de algo que ya ha ocurrido, los verbos tienen que referirse también al pasado. Si alguien nos dice: “Cállate”, diremos en otro momento: Me dijo que me callara. O si alguien nos dice: “Ayer fui al cine”, nosotros contaremos que alguien nos dijo que el día anterior había ido al cine. ¿Verdad?. Pues esas son las transformaciones quedebemos de tener en cuenta. Pero no de forma matemática, sino de forma lógica y pensando un poco. Además, lo que deberíamos de hacer para que precisamente no se conviertan en frases que se transforman simplemente, podemos unirlas en forma de conversación, al igual que lo hacemos en nuestra propia lengua cuando decimos: después, entonces, ...y cuando..., más tarde, por lo tanto, etc. Es lo que eninglés se llaman connectors o linkers, de los cuales te daré algunas ideas más adelante, para que al mismo tiempo seas capaz de enriquecer tus escritos en inglés.

Time and place expression changes in indirect speech
No se realizan cambios si la comunicación lleva a cabo almismo tiempo y en el mismo lugar que el enunciado original.

Tommy to Keith in Szeged in 1999:  I will move here next year.
Keith to Nigel in Szeged in 2003: Tommy said he would move here the following year.
Keith to Nigel in London in 1999: I’ve just met Tommy in Szeged, and he said he will move there next year.
Keith to Nigel in London in 2003: I met Tommy in Szeged four years ago, and hesaid he would move there the following year.
Recuerde que el idioma siempre se utiliza en un contexto (en una situación de vida real), por lo que son los cambios que pueden ocurrir a las expresiones de tiempo y lugar debido a los cambios en el contexto (tiempo y lugar). Siempre tener en cuenta el contexto al aplicar los siguientes cambios.
