Chapter 1
Henry was a an office worker in San Francisco, one afternoon he went sailing and his boat was pushed out of the Bay. He was saved by a British brig and had to work his way back toLondon. Once in London, he had no money or food. He was trying to eat a pear out of the street, when an old gentleman asked him to come intohis house.
Chapter 2
The two old gentlemen were brothers,they had made a bet. Brother A thought that id and honest and intelligent stranger arrived to London with out friends or money and had only a £1,000,000 Banknote he would starve to death, or go toprison. Brother B did not agree, he bet 20,000 pounds that the stranger could live for 30 days without going to prison. The chose Henry from the street and gave him a envelope with a letter in it.Henry took t and went to Harris's eating place. After he ate he tried to pay and found had a million pound banknote.
Chapter 3
Henry tried to give back the bank note because he thought they hadgiven it to him by mistake. He went to their home, but their servanttold him they had gone on a rtip to the Continent. They would not be back for 30 days. He read the letter that explained the betand made a decision. He would keep the banknote and give it back in 30 days, and help the brother win the bet. That way he could have any job and salary he wanted.

Henry went to atailor, at first they thought he had no money and sold him an ugly suit. When they found out he had a million pound banknote, they sold him beautiful suits. The tailor told Henry he would wait foreverfor payment because Henry was such a rich man.
Chapter 5
Henry was able to buy everything without money, because everyone in London knew he had a million pounds. Harris's eating place becamefamous because that is where Henry ate. He lived like a rich and important man. Henry met the American Ambassador, who invited him to a dinner party.
