The market was moved to the Plaza de San Francisco, where it remained until 1820, andthen moved to the Plaza of the Inquisition. In 1840 he settled in the Dominican College of St. Thomas. It was in 1851 that Ramon Castilla has built the Central Market in Lima, serious work thatculminated in the government of Echenique.
Outside, on the four sides were built shops. Revenues stood at the center of each of its sides and corners. In the XIX century made the first renovation of itsoriginal design and early XX century it was enlarged. in the middle of 1960's the market suffers a fire, and on this ground stands the new Central Market in Lima, as we know it today.
Cholera appearedin the late 90’s in cities. The market decreased its sales, there was no demand. Lots of families were frightened to buy fish and because of that lots of people lost their jobs. After a certain timesome people were allowed to sell it with a special authorization.
That’s why in the marked many places that at first were meant to sell fish were rent to people that sold food, it was already cooked.Currently that’s why there is no control in the minimun.
