Seven deadly sins
List of the seven deadly sins in the same order used by the Roman Pope Gregory the Great (circa 540-604) in the sixth century. Later, the poet Dante Alighieri used the same order in his work The Divine Comedy (c. 1308-1321).
Lust
Details of the lust,in the painting The Garden of Earthly Delights, by Hieronymus Bosch. This table shows all kinds of carnal pleasures, Bosch considered sinful.
Lust (Latin, lust) is usually regarded as the sin caused by excessive thoughts of a sexual nature. According to another author [citation needed] lust are possessive thoughts about another person. Because of its intrinsic relation to the sexual nature, lustat its highest level can lead to psychological or sexual compulsions and / or violations, including sexual addiction, adultery and rape.
Dante's concept of lust had was love for other person, which would put God in second place.
Gluttony
Currently gluttony (Latin, gula) is identified with gluttony, excessive consumption of food and drink. In contrast, in the past any form of excess could fallwithin the definition of this sin. Marked by excessive consumption of irrational or unnecessary, gluttony also includes certain forms of destructive behavior. In this way substance abuse or binge drinking can be seen as examples of gluttony. In the Divine Comedy Alighieri, Purgatory, the penitents were forced to stand between two trees, unable to reach and eat the fruit hanging from the branchesof these and therefore they were described as hungry.
Greed
Greed (Latin, avaritia) is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed (as seen by the Church) applies only to the acquisition of wealth in particular. Thomas Aquinas wrote that greed is "a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, as man condemns things eternal for things temporal. " In Dante's Purgatory, the penitents wereforced to kneel on a rock and recite the examples of greed and their opposite virtues. "Greed" is a term that describes many other examples of sins. These include disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, especially for personal gain, as in the case of accepting bribes. Search and accumulation of objects, theft and assault, especially by violence, deception or manipulation of authority are all actionsthat can be inspired by greed. Such acts can include simony.
Laziness
Sloth (Latin, acedia) is the most "metaphysical" of the deadly sins, as is referred to the inability to accept and take over the existence of oneself. It also causes the most problemsin his description. The simple "laziness", especially the "entertainment" not appear to be a failure. We preferred, therefore, the concept of"sloth"or "heartburn. " Taken in its own right is a "sad mood" that separates the believer from spiritual or divine obligations, because of the obstacles and difficulties that they encounter. Under the name of spiritual and divine things means all that God requires us to attain the eternal salvation (salvation), and the practice of Christian virtues, the observation of these precepts, the duties ofeach, exercises of piety and religion. Conceive of such things as sadness, shelter volunteer, in the heart, reluctance, dislike and disgust for them, it is deadly sin. Taken strictly as a mortal sin is directly opposed to charity we owe to ourselves and the love we owe God. Thus, if deliberately and with full consent of the will, we feel dejected or unwillingness of the things that we are obliged, for example, forgiveness of injuries, deprivation of carnal pleasures, among others, the sloth is a grave sin because it is directly opposed to the love of God and ourselves. Considered in order to produce effects that, if the sloth is such that it makes you forget the necessary and essential for eternal salvation, notably neglecting the obligations and duties or if it gets us hope that no other...
