In today’s world, both adults and teenagers arespending their free time by joining social media to communicate among them. They spend their time on websites like Facebook and Twitter, which rank among the top when it comes to the socialnetwork industry.
More educators are using social media services and tools today, than ever before. For instances, 61% of teachers, principals and librarians have access to at least onesocial space. Many of them are used for professional development. For example: writing blogs, watching videos, etc. However, dealing with cyber bullying or inappropriate postings make schoolleaders think well about the advantages and disadvantages of the social media and the effects brought by its misuse.
Many schools use it for reaching out and promoting its activities. Evenparents join social networks in order to share with teachers any doubts they may have concerning the institution, new, or evaluations. Stakeholders who are part of a social network can receiveany type of information directly to a computer or a mobile device with internet access. Principals have the opportunity to learn about student opinions or needs by enabling spaces wherethey can have an educational conversation. Educators have to always be aware to share educational topics (concerning learning or school events). They can observe what others are doing to shareinformation in social media.
Social media have brought tools which are essential so leaders can socialize with stakeholders. Integrating media tools is the step for school’s communication.
