Disability Simulation Stations
1) Wheelchair Basketball- During this station I found it difficult to make a shot while sitting down. Also, the dribbling part is challenging because Ihad to stop the wheelchair after two push and most time I forgot to stop. I think it would be easier if the basketball goal were shorter because it would led to more baskets and better aiming.
2)Soccer Dribble- I think this was the hardest station because of the restrict of movement in your legs. I had a difficult time controlling the bigger balls because I couldn’t take bigger steps. Thesmaller the balls the easiest control I had because the ball didn’t travel as fast as the bigger ones did.
3)Basketball Dribble- In this station it was hard for me to get ball into the basket. It feltuncomfortable having to shoot the ball with two hands as well as trying to keep control of the ball while dribbling. I think this station would be easier if the basketball were lower because it was hardto get in from a longer distance.
4)Blind fielding a rolled ball- I enjoyed this station because of the anticipation I had while waiting for the ball. You have to focus and listen for the sound todetermined in which direction the ball was going. At times I was confused because it seems that the ball was going the opposite from what you hear until it got closer.
5)Volley the ball againstwall or to partner- As group we had problems in trying to complete a whole cycle with our non-dominant and having to control the ball. As the object got smaller it got harder hitting it to someone elsebecause it didn’t go as far. This station would be beneficial for someone who wants to get better with their non-dominant hand.
6) Wheelchair mobility- After I was done with this station my arms andshoulder were burning. I found it difficult every time I had to turn because I have to stop and push. Also having to do for five straight minutes is tiring .
