Essay – Marrying for money and status used to be more important than is now? –

Getting married, in order to upgrade social status, is a custom that comes from ancient days. In the contemporaryage, all social stratums are mixed; a lot of people marry because of love, however, it can be that one of the parties marries to improve his/her economical status. Marriage by convenience is somethingvery common. This situation is accepted by the actual society because million of persons have done so and other will do it again.
There are certain similarities among what was done before and whatis done now. But, at the same time, this is a continuous dualism because in ancient days the community imposed certain norms that were respected or was avoided to go against in order to be consideredas good. At this moment everything is a complete disorder: or everyone wants to be with someone or with no one, this is our daily reality. But, in which age it was more important to marry forconvenience, ancient`s or our time?
Let us begin with this perspective. In previous times the common situation was that the higher social classes marry to their own social status with major economicalpower before an enriched society because this helps in the generation of a major recognition. Rich and poor could never be mixed, due to prejudices and the generation of a lack of respect toward them.In our current society all people is mixed among themselves: rich with poor, poor with rich, low class with high class, etc. This is very common. Some increase their social status, some lower itand others keep it; this is a continuous circle that never stops. Money seems to be more needed currently, but to marry for money or because of a social status is not so important now. People onlymarry to achieve a better quality of life, but not to impress anybody.
